Hi! Today, I want to share with you a PDF document that includes several
activities designed to help students from preschool to primary school connect
with their classmates through kindness and empathy, creating a supportive
environment that helps prevent bullying.
Each activity includes the recommended age group, the materials needed,
and clear instructions on how to carry it out. The
activities are the following:
- Empathy with
Animals: In this
activity, children decorate bear faces that represent different emotions
(brave, sad, happy, angry). Then, after listening to short stories, they
must identify how the character is feeling and choose the bear face that
matches the story. Finally, they are asked questions that encourage them
to reflect on and talk about their own feelings.
- Kindness Bingo: This is a bingo game that can be adapted in two ways. First, it can be played as a traditional bingo game, but instead of numbers, the spaces contain positive actions towards others (ex. “say hello to a new friend”, “introduce yourself to a new friend”…). The second version consists of children marking only the kind actions they have actually done over the past week.
Community Building in Circle Time: At the beginning of the school day, teachers dedicate a moment to read different reflective questions aloud. Students are given a few minutes to think about their response and then invited to share it with the group. The aim is to encourage introspection and group discussion (ex. “Complete this idea: something that makes me feel brave, is…”).
I believe these are very interesting activities that can be used to help
children identify emotions, encourage respect within the classroom group, and
promote kindness.
